Don’t Cry for me Argentina…

A VISIT TO EVITA’S TOMB

I stayed in the affluent Recoleta part of the city during my visit to Buenos Aries.. The cemetery, is considered to be one of the top 10 most beautiful cemeteries in the world.

My hotel was only walking distance from La Recoleta cemetery. I would have certainly visited it anyway just to see Evita’s tomb. This is the resting place of many important Argentinians. There are Magnificent memorials but Eva’s was modest. A non discreet and unremarkable feature in it’s architecture. All the same, people just flocked over there. It was very emotional for many . I saw quite a number of people trying to hold back tears.I too felt the poignant atmosphere and had moist eyes and the song ‘Don’t cry for me Argentina…….”was playing in my head.
